Use of social networking to enhance group identity

Caroline Coles, principal lecturer in the DMU law School, has been teaching with e-learning for approximately six years.

She is interested in using innovative technology that she finds most useful for distance learning students and in teaching of skills. She regularly presents to academic conferences on her work.

In this presentation she describes some of her practical experiences and research with collaborative e-learning tools, known as Web 2.0, in particular wikis, social networking and blogs and how they can aid deeper, reflective learning. She makes reference to sources from the HEA and writing of Biggs and Kolb.
